 This is my 87th birthday

It is ninety degrees at 4:40 pm. I always think of the un-air-conditioned misery my mother had to endure to have me. I thank God she was able.

Grace took me to The Boathouse for lunch. Kerry and Heather joined us. We sit in the bar because we laugh so hard we would get thrown out of the dinning room. All that fun was tiring so I had to come home and take a nap.

Wow😍it’s been a long time since I have posted here,,

Family wayback

Tomorrow being Thanksgiving I thought it would appropriate to revisit some of my children's blood ancestors who tried out a new life starting with a trip on the famed Mayflower in 1620.

Edward Doty came to New England in the Mayflower in 1620 as a servant/ apprentice in the household of Stephen Hopkins.

His place of birth is unknown. It was referred to, along with Stephen Hopkins as "of London"

They set sail in June and landed in December.

[FDR decreed the last Thursday in Nov. to be Thanksgiving. this info was taken from Mayflower Families Through Five Generations Volume 11 ]

Still pandemic plus comet

We are still asked to practice extra special cleanliness (especially hands),
social distancing and wear a face mask
around people.
Latest word on the current comet is that it , named Neowise ,is still in the night sky and can be spotted near the big dipper.
In 1997 Hale-Bopp comet was visible for 18 months.
Glen and I saw it from the rear fenders of the Honey
motorhome we owned then. It made a spectacular
show as we looked out over Charlston Bay just to the
right past Ft. Sumpter.  The tail resembled a glowing tube with a thousand sparklers attached to the back end as it streaked across our view. With wine glasses
already in hand we toasted the long evening we spent
parked along the Battery. I wonder if people can still

January slipped right by.

Here we are in heart month already. I am getting to fitness Y classes as often as I can. Will not drive in the snow or slush. However, if I miss my blood pressure climbs.
The first Sunday in the month was Superbowl Sunday.
The Kansas City Chiefs won ..first time in 50 years.
That Sunday was also Groundhog day and Candlemas day and also a rare palindrome date,
02/02/2020. All were to be celebrated.

Dear Ina Mae,
Don  just came home for dinner and gave me your letter. Our stove generator wouldn't function this morn so Don sent for a new one. We had to have a cold dinner; salmon, celery, fruit, and cake. He's making a pattern for the big black cats I'm going to put on the curtains for Kayo and Janney's room.
I have my kitchen and bathroom curtains finished and up.

Don said (during dinner ) that we would come out Thanksgiving afternoon and you can come back and stay until Sunday.

Aunt Lidia was here Tues. afternoon for about 2 hours and said that you were over to Grandmother's Sun. nite.  I don't suppose we will
have any Christmas over there as we usually have.

I haven't heard from Beryl since I live here but I wrote her last week. I imagine there is a letter down at the post office. Don is just now going down to see.
I heard Elenor Powell sing and tap dance over the radio about 15 minutes ago.
Kayo and Janis are over their colds and their eyes are o.k. We had Kayo up to Doc Baum's last evening for a physical examination. He said he was all o.k. except that he needs Cod Liver Oil to ward off colds. What a relief!
I'm glad you wrote please write again. We were up to see Mac and Doyle last night and they were out here Tues. night. Now I must close Don wants to go.

                                         Lots of love,
                                           Your sister,
                                                Mary
